The Drive To Napa
Visiting the Napa Valley in California should be done at least once in a person’s life, especially if they’re wine lovers and experts. Napa Valley is the wine region of California and is home to hundreds of private and public vineyards.
But with the large number of vineyards in the area and little time to explore all of them, it’s hard to visit all of them. So let me present a condensed version of my favorite vineyards.
1. Robert Mondavi Winery
The Robert Mondavi Winery was the first vineyard to open in Napa Valley in 1966. For that alone, it is enough to visit this majestic place. Upon entry, you will be greeted by two structures that say “Welcome. Robert Mondavi Winery”. As a visitor, you are free to view a portion of the grounds for free. For $25, you will be able to find out how wine is made and how Robert Mondavi makes it. For $15, you can experience wine-tasting education by one of the winery’s renowned wine educators.
2. Rutherford Hill
As with the name, Rutherford Hill is perched up on top of a hill, giving its visitors majestic views of the Napa Valley region. They offer tastings ($15/person), tours and tastings ($20/person). They also have a “Build Your Own Merlot” class, where students learn the importance and the art of wine making.
3. Castello di Amorosa
As the name suggests, Castello di Amorosa is a castle perched atop a hill. For $15 per person, you can enter the castle and have tastings of up to 5 different kinds of wine. For $25, go for a complete tour of the place and learn how they make their wine. For $42 per person, taste their Reserve wines paired with chocolates.
There are more vineyards to visit. But these are my favorite ones to visit. Which ones are yours?
