Where Did People Take A Break In 2009?

Where did you go for a vacation in 2009? Would you recommend it? I’ve got a few recommendations in mind, too.

Andalucia, Spain (Wine Region)

If you love wine, be sure to include Andalucia, Spain, in your itinerary. No one knows for sure how wine-making started in this region, but one thing’s for sure, there’s around 40,000 hectares of vineyards in Andalucia. Over half of the produced wine is concentrated in four areas: Jerez, Malaga and Sierra de Malaga, Montilla Moriles and Condado de Huelva. Jerez is popular for producing sherry. Sweet dessert wines are the specialty in the Montilla and Malaga regions. Huelva also specializes in sweet wine but also has gone into the production of young, white wine, which they still have to improve for a consistent good performance. Be sure to book a wine tour when you’re in Andalucia.

Seychelles (Beach)

Composed of a group of about 115 islands, about 1600 km off East Africa, Seychelles is the best place to go to for a beach vacation. Beaches here are not crowded and are uncorrupted. Since the entire republic of Seychelles is surrounded by islands, you’ll never run out of beach choices. But if you only had to go to several beaches, be sure to visit three places: Anse Lazio, Anse Source D’Agent and Beau Vallon.

Anse Lazio on Praslin Island has been voted the world’s best beach by several travel publications mainly because of its white sands and clear, turquoise waters, where visitors also can enjoy through various watersports. Anse Source D’Agent in La Digue Island is the second best beach in Seychelles, famous for its gigantic granite boulders with unusual curves. It also has the calmest waters, perfect for families with little kids. Beau Vallon up on the north is not the most appealing beach but interesting nonetheless. Its deep waters make it conducive for swimming, but its peace and quiet makes it different from other beach vacations you might have had in the past.

A Seychelles beach vacation may be a little expensive, but its beaches make it all worth it.

Hawaii (Honeymoon Spots)

Hawaii still remains the number one stop for honeymoon destinations in the US. And why shouldn’t it be? It may be an expensive destination, but you get so much for your money- so many islands and beaches to choose from. The number of activities you can do is endless. Be sure to catch the sunset at Hanalei Beach in Kauai. Take a swim under the waterfalls. Discover Hawaii and its many hidden spots through horses. Dine under the stars while your toes dig in to Hawaii sands. The list is endless. It may not be a unique honeymoon destination, but Hawaii knows how to create romance.

Next destinations: Nepal and Amsterdam
