All About Austin, Texas

picNot only is Austin the state capitol of Texas, it’s also a fun town to visit for music lovers. It all started eighteen years ago when the officials in Austin realized that despite their size, they actually had more live music and concert venues than Los Angeles or New York, or even Nashville. Currently there are about 200 live venues and a perpetual calendar of hosted music acts, so you can plan your whole itinerary around concerts (if you want). And rest assure that there is much more to Austin than just music, read on to find out more.

Like most cities, Austin is compromised of districts, and each district boasts its own attractions. Red River is the district for independent and punk bands with clever club names such as Emo′s and Mohawk. East Austin has an eclectic mix of blues joints and luxurious lounges.A The University district is filled concert halls and more rock clubs, and South Lamar has the state′s oldest dance club and plenty of restaurant clubs. The whole city of Austin in blessed with many different music venues.

Austin is also a great city for those who want to visit museums and other cultural centers. A few must-see include the Austin Museum of Art at Laguna Gloria (which mixes fine art with nature) and the Austin Museum of Art (located in downtown). Another great thing about Austin is the selection of fabulous boutiques and several shopping malls, including SoCo (South Congress) Shopping District, which has interesting boutiques, cafes, and bars.A There are also plenty of natural parks and sights to enjoy in the city of Austin and surrounding areas.A Right outside of downtown is Town Lake Hike and Bike Trail where you can just enjoy a walk or watch nature amid the city.

But the most interesting thing about Austin? It′s a relatively good sized city, yet it maintains a smaller town atmosphere that will make you feel right at home.
