If You’re Going to Palm Springs. . .

Palm SpringsYou should read this article first.  My friend Chris recently took a mini-vacation to Palm Springs with his wife.  While enjoying a little time sans children, he kindly took the time to review dining and lodging establishments.

One of the benefits of an adults only vacation as a parent is enjoying a quiet dinner at a restaurant that does not feature chicken nuggets as their best menu option.  Pomme Frite was one such restaurant that Chris and his wife enjoyed.  Of particular note was the beet and chevre napoleon.  Being a vacation, another fine dining experience was to be had, and Zin American Bistro was the choice.  The favorite item here was the cheese plate.

Of course, just because your evenings are filled with fine dining doesn’t mean you can’t have simple lunches of burgers and hot dogs, which is exactly what they did.  Lunches were enjoyed at both Grill-A-Burger and Tyler’s Burgers.  The Ooh La La burger from Grill-A-Burger was declared the winner.

Not to be forgotten, there was a breakfast place of note.  John’s Restaurant offers a menu of classic diner food with amazingly good prices.  Though only one meal was sampled, a pancake, egg, and sausage combo plate, it was a well done meal.

Just as important as the food you will be eating is where you will stay during your vacation.  Being their second vacation in Palm Springs, the Pepper Tree Inn was their obvious choice.  As Chris notes, at this hotel “everything is done right”.

Read a few reviews, pack your bags, and get going.  With the temperature forecast for 80 in Palm Springs today, it seems like a tempting option.

Palm Springs is a great vacation destination. I am a past president of the Palm Springs Chamber of Commerce.

There is so much to do, or better yet, you do nothing and just relax.

There are lots of great restaurants and places to stay.

Palm Springs has large resorts, golf resorts, boutique resorts and even gay resorts. They have chain hotels and budget hotels. They have romantic bed and breakfast inns and even the best clothing optional inn in the US for couples according to trip advisor.com, The Terra Cotta Inn http://sunnyfun.com

So pack your bags and vacation in sunny Palm Springs. You will be glad that you did!
