Switzerland is a unique land, and festivals in the country are diverse and rich in history. Winter would cut many villages off from one another, and so the celebrations there tended to become very localized. Because of that, there are numerous traditions that survive to this day, and with modern technology making travel between different locales easier than before, people are free to enrich themselves on the bounty that is Swiss festival tradition. Just the month of January alone offers some fascinating choices for fairs in Switzerland. Let's look at two of these coming up next month.

June Around Alaska
by James Maynard June 8th, 2012 | Destination Highlight, Fairs & Festivals, USA
Early summer can be glorious in Alaska. Once called “Seward's Icebox,” the largest state in the Union has stunning views, great nature trips and hosts some first-class music events.
The Kenai River Festival is taking place June 8th through the 10th at Soldotna Creek Park in downtown Soldotna, Alaska. Last year, nearly 10,000 people attended the event. Events at the festival include a 5X/10mile race, the 20-foot-long magical “Luq'A the Salmon,” pioneer salmon dinners, free riverside entertainment and nearly two dozen free activities for children. This is the fair's 22nd year in existence.
