Types of Hotels in India

by Bea October 30th, 2012 | Destination Highlight, Hotels
Based on the types of rooms, amenities, and location, hotels in India can be classified into different categories. They probably will not sound all too different from U.S. hotels, but it might be nice to know what to expect if you end up visiting India.

One of the categories of hotels is a resort. Resorts are typically found at seaside tourist destinations and hill stations. Resorts are geared more for families and other types of visits in which you plan to spend the majority of your time enjoying the comfort of the hotel as well as the scenery.

Wellington, New Zealand

by Angela Yorke August 13th, 2012 | Hotels, Lodging, New Zealand
Voted the coolest little capital in the world by Lonely Planet in 2011, Wellington, New Zealand, is a key feature of the country’s theater and entertainment industry and home to a thriving café culture, arts scene, and nightlife significantly bigger than that in other cities of a comparable size. Before June, anyone who intended to visit London would have had second thoughts about staying in one of the most expensive cities in the world during “Olympics season”. Hoteliers had increased room rates in a manner that could only be described as obscene to profit greatly from the 2012 Summer Olympics.

Incredibly enough, travelers and long-haul tour operators decided that the new prices simply weren’t worth it, lending legs to the phrase “vote with your feet”. In fact, the effect was felt late last year, when a European Tour Operators’ Association survey in November reported that advance bookings for

Fishing For Accommodation in Alaska

by Angela Yorke June 21st, 2012 | Destination Highlight, Hotels
Nature is one, if not the main attraction in Alaska. Fishing is a big deal, and a number of outfits operate fishing vacations. If wrestling with a recalcitrant salmon isn’t your cup of tea, Alaska is also home to national parks that allow visitors to get up close and personal with nature.

Owned and operated by fishing enthusiasts, Wild Strawberry Lodge in Sitka has provided warm and friendly accommodation for travelers who come to Alaska for a fishing vacation in the hopes of landing halibut and salmon, for which Alaska is known worldwide. Guests who engage the lodge’s premier charter
