New York City is an expensive city, but there are ways to visit it on a budget! Are you looking to tour the city, but do not want to pay too much? Well, there are “free” ways to do so!

Free Tours By Foot is the only official tour company in New York City to offer free, tip-supported walking tours. It will still cost you some money to go on these tours, but in the end, you will pay your licensed tour guide what you think they deserve to receive. This means that your tour guide is going to do the best that he or she can, because they want the most money out of you! It should be a fun tour though because the tour guides are all here to teach history while giving entertaining tours of NYC. They were probably in your shoes once upon a time!

Their website has a calendar with the schedule of tours available on it. There are many different tours to chose from. You can check out Lower Manhattan (911 Memorial), Harlem, Greenwich Village, Midtown Manhattan, SoHo, Little Italy, Chinatown, Brooklyn Bridge (with sunset), and more. Many of the tours have been reviewed online and there is a lot of positive feedback. I had a friend who went on the SoHo, Little Italy, and Chinatown tour and she had a blast with her guide. Of course, sometimes the tour could be a miss and you end up not enjoying yourself; however, on the bright side, all you have lost is time because you do not necessarily have to tip your guide!

To contact Free Tours by Foot, you can e-mail them, call them, or text them. If you are looking to do a private tour or another special type of tour such as a food tour, student tour, or guide serviced tour, you can contact the company beforehand and they would be happy to help you out.
