If you are looking for something to do in India there is really no shortage of options when it comes to nightlife. While it depends where you are staying, like most places large cities have more options, you can explore clubs, restaurants, cafes, cinema or even just enjoy the atmosphere on the street. If you are staying at a resort, there should be plenty of nightlife options included, but be sure to spend at least one night out exploring what India has to offer.

New Delhi – If you are staying in New Delhi and you want to explore a bit of Indian bohemia, you should check out Hauz Khas Village, a neighborhood on the outskirts of the city that draws a bohemian local crowd and can be a fun way to get to meet Indians and enjoy a night out. Just follow the crowds and you should be able to find a club or bar that meets your expectations.

Goa – If you are in Goa, there are plenty of nightclubs aimed at tourists and backpackers. But take a chance to explore some of the night bazaars and get a feeling for some of the local life. Panaji Kala academy offers theatre and other cultural options to choose from if you are tired of the dance club scene. Also if gambling is your thing, check out some of the casinos and try to win some more money to spend at the clubs.

Mumbai – Rooftop bars are something you shouldn’t miss in Mumbai. These give you a great chance to see the city in all its beauty. If you are worried about irritating your stomach, you can still imbibe without consuming tap water. Request your cocktails mixed only with bottled liquids – this is not a problem at the nicer bars. Make sure you only drink beer or soda from a bottle. Do not drink water.

Varkala – If you are looking for something a bit off the beaten track, but with a great nightlife Varkala may be for you. It offers beautiful beach backdrops and is the perfect place to take a pit stop and enjoy. You should avoid Varkala during the summer, but if you are in the neighborhood in October, you will be able to experience tourist season. The pace of life in Varkala is distinctly slower than that of the big cities and tourist crazy Goa, but it gives you a chance to enjoy a nice night out and the beach.

Bollywood – No trip to India should be complete without at least one night at the movie theatre enjoying a Bollywood film with an Indian audience. Often times dancers perform during these events and it can be a real cultural experience.
