Atlanta is not only Georgia′s largest city, it’s also the most metropolitan town in the whole southeast (outside of Florida). Here, you′ll find a wealth of culture, arts, recreation, and more. But, as any real southern belle would know, Atlanta is the place to shop! From designer boutiques to hip districts to suburban malls- this city has it all. Ready to visit? Here are the best shopping districts you won′t want to miss.
Underground Atlanta is located inA the heart of downtown and offers plenty of unique choices in shopping, dining and entertainment. Here, you′ll find few chain shops and mostly locally owned shops and services that cater to both tourists and locals. If you need a break from tourism, try to take a Guided History Tour that covers the city′s beginnings, the days of the Civil War, and civil rights. Underground Atlanta is probably one of the most interesting shopping districts in the whole vicinity.
Virginia-Highland is kind of like a more upscale shopping district that features a variety of locally owned boutiques, coffee houses, spas, and more. The whole neighborhood looks reminiscent of the old south with magnolia trees and southern style architecture, especially the area’s bed and breakfast houses- which makes it more visually appealing than others. Start your Virginia-Highland visit early- start your morning with a delicious pastry from Alon′s (which was voted Atlanta′s best bakery), and start browsing through fashionable apparel boutiques like Ooh La La Fashion Boutique, Mooncake, or The Fickle Manor. And don′t miss The Paper Source, which sells luxe stationery and gifts. When lunchtime rolls around, spend an hour enjoying sushi at Mali Restaurant. If seafood is not your thing, rest assured that this neighborhood has plenty of restaurant choices. Spend the rest of your afternoon browsing antiques or shopping for gifts at one of the abundant gift shops.
Atlantic Station is a hip enclave with restaurants, clubs, lofts, and various businesses. Luckily, you don′t have to live here to enjoy the perks. Here, there are mostly chain shops and department stores, including Dillard′s, Target, Guess?, and H and M. There′s also a movie theatre and various events for entertainment purposes.
