picThe Marina Neighborhood of San Francisco didn't used to be there. In fact, before 1915, it was all water. Rubble from the 1906 earthquake was dumped in this area and served as the foundation for this neighborhood. In 1915, seawalls were built up, and sand from the bottom of the ocean was pumped to create marshland.
