Three Must-See Beach Boardwalks

picBeach vacations are a part of summer, but with the way the economy is going (and the rise of airplane flight fares) many people are opting to stay home or travel to nearby cities. If either applies to you, the good news is you can extend your beach getaway with a day on the boardwalk. Here are three great boardwalks in the United States that are worth your time

Kemah Boardwalk in Galveston, Texas

This family friendly boardwalk is a fun-filled destination that deserves at least an afternoon (or a day) of visitation. There are plenty of kitschy tourist shops, chain restaurants, andA even amusements scattered throughout this boardwalk- including a midway carnival of games, a Ferris wheel, and more. Adjacent to the Kemah Boardwalk is the Kemah Boardwalk Marina where you can rent a charter boat.

Santa Monica Beach Pier, Santa Monica, California

This is a classic example of what a boardwalk should be like. This pier includes Pacific Park (an amusement park), an arcade, carousel, and an aquarium. They also have a couple restaurants and shops, live entertainment, and even events like concerts. Best of all, the Santa Monica Beach Pier is open year round.

Atlantic City Boardwalk, Atlantic City, New Jersey

Imagine a Las Vegas by the ocean, and that′s what you get with this boardwalk. Shops, restaurants, and hotels take up a portion of this large boardwalk. Families will love the various arcades and amusement places.A But there′s also Atlantic City Boardwalk Hall (concert hall), and a history museum as well.
